2011 – what a year!!!! I totally intended to post this remotely on New Years Eve while I was away but it turns our my hubby had picked a holiday destination with no cell phone signal or internet – oh it was bliss – but really I digress… what I need to talk about is 2011…… I have been so truly blessed by the amazing people this year has brought into my life. It’s been a year of smiles – a year of friendships – a year where I saw families grow – babies enter this world – love blossom – children develop. It’s been a year where I got to photograph weddings, engagements, births, babies and families – so many beautiful families.

It’s been a year where I’ve been able to spread my creative wings and take on more editorial and commercial work – and more charity work to help causes important to me. I’ve worked with truly incredible vendors who have trusted me to showcase their beautiful work.

It was a year where I’ve marvelled at the incredible importance of what I’m blessed enough to do, with photographs, in holding memories for families who have lost loved ones, seeing babies I photographed go off to school and I’ve felt humbled watching the strength of one of my families who are battling cancer with amazing grace.

I get to capture connections, I get to capture emotion, I get to capture precious moments in time, I get to capture realness…. I’ve shed tears, lost hair, lost sleep, not to mention lost my marbles a few times – but I’ve had so many smiles and so much laughter too – I pour my heart and soul into what I do and I can’t thank you all enough for your incredible support, and for opening up your homes and lives to me…

Engaged: Wendy and Curt | Abu Dhabi Engagement Photographer

I met Wendy and Curt late one scorching hot Thursday afternoon – it was in that crazy week when temperatures suddenly soared up into the high 40′s – but you know what, despite the crazy heat this couple are just remarkably cool…

We had a lot of fun – laughing and jumping and goofing around…

I know their wedding back in Canada will be awesome because this couple are so full of amazing energy

And so happy and lovely together…

Wendy had her makeup done by Lina - who must have done a really good job to make it look so great in that heat!!!

PS this was the shoot I mentioned on my Facebook page where we saw dolphins down by the Emirates Palace – go over and check out the photos - it was just so amazing to see – I’d never seen them in Abu Dhabi before

Oh the beautiful banyan tree | Abu Dhabi Wedding Photographer

On a beautiful April day I was lucky enough to be part of another wedding under the beautiful spreading banyan tree. This time the wedding was of Hilary and Steve. It was a relaxed day of smiles and laughter and families brought together from all over the world. There were back garden speaches and drinks and more laughter and it was fabulous to be there to witness the love that brought all these people together.

I think you’ll agree Hilary made a stunning bride?And er… hello Jimmy Choo!!

The confetti – so much confetti!!!! And off we went, for some Abu Dhabi portraits and a little alone time (well as alone as you can be with me stalking you with a camera!!!) for Hilary and Steve.

I LOVE these two – can you feel the happiness? Thank you so much to your families for making me so welcome and involving me in your big day – and I hope the Maldives were amazing!!! Kirsty x

Wow, it’s been a week – I never, ever expected the Face of Kirsty Larmour Photography contest to take off like it did – and I have all of you to thank for that – your support and participation has been amazing – Thank you from the bottom of my heart for all your gorgeous entries, and for getting into the fun spirit of it.

Before I announce the winners I have to thank my fabulous judges - Rowe, Kristen, Kati, Jayme and Chelsea who all stepped up magnificently to help out.

So, without further ado…

First Prize of a styled shoot, with digital images and a mini album goes to

BOYS – Luke, and GIRLS – Julia

And a runner up prize from each category of a mini shoot (worth AED 2000) goes to

BOYS – Ben, and GIRLS – Poppy

And a bonus prize session fee waiver (worth AED800) goes to brother and sister winning team of Oliver and Mia – who not only made it to the final 15, but were also the only brother/sister combo where both were placed by one or more of the judges! Even though they didn’t come first I feel that deserves a prize!

And what’s more, every participant can take 10% off their session fee for sessions held within 2011.

CONGRATULATIONS all of you – all your beautiful children are winners.

2010… A review…

I so love what I get to do for a living… meeting the amazing families of Abu Dhabi, and further afield, and reconnecting with former clients who’ve now become friends is just wonderful. I feel very blessed, and honoured to be able to capture memories and just a little bit emotional when I go back through the pictures of a year and see babies born, children grow up, milestones reached, vows made, laughs laughed, fun had, smiles, giggles, cuddles, tickles, tears, joy, hello’s, farewells… so in farewell to 2010, here is the Kirsty Larmour Photography review of the year…

Ania and Paul’s wedding took place on a stunningly sunshiney day. It was one of those days of perfect combinations – perfect weather, fabulous guests from far and wide, a glorious venue, a wonderfully happy bride and groom… but the most crazy stomach butterflies for me because they were getting married at 12:30pm, and outdoors!!! But perfection struck again, in the form of the wonderful old spreading banyan tree they chose to get married under – oh bliss!

Down the Aisle: Caroline and Scott ♥ Abu Dhabi Wedding Photographer

Caroline and Scott brought a little piece of Scotland to Abu Dhabi last week for their wedding. Tartans, thistles, kilts, ceilidh dancing were all incorporated into their big day.

We started out at the Fairmont Bab Al Bahr where Caroline was getting ready…I love some little shoe details

And the gorgeous bouquet which had lilac beading througout it.Er…. Hello, stunning bride!!

We then headed off to St. Andrew’s church – I’d love to say I got some pics of Scott there, but he arrived after Caroline – shock horror – I believe it was his Dad’s fault (or maybe just the Abu Dhabi traffic???) Anyway, here’s our handsome groom

And in case you were thinking I chopped his head off because he’s some kind of monster – no, no, no – here’s the adorable twosome together – I love these twoA little ring shot….

Love Shoot: Claire and Jon ♥ Abu Dhabi Engagement Photographer

If I had a time machine I’d go back in time to the days when I was newly engaged and have myself an engagement shoot just like this – well, not quite just like this, because this was ALL about Claire and Jon and the things they love - but as gorgeous and super stylish and deliciously loved up as this for sure.

Jon’s pride and joy is his car so we included it in the shoot too – my fantasy shoot would be different cos I could never get out a car that elegantly!!

We cruised town and included so many of the things they love to do as a couple in their shots, including playing rugby on the beach – I mean c’mon, how can you look soooooo good playing rugby??? And check out the lush sunlight…. (did you see the dancing ones in the last blog post - oh, divine!)

Claire and Jon, I loved spending time getting to know you, sharing your passions, blagging our way around Abu Dhabi – I’m just gutted that after an afternoon of such fun and gorgeous photos I don’t get to shoot your wedding – have an amazing day – you’ll both look fantastic, but that’s cos you radiate fun, oooze style and positively shine with love, Kirsty xx

Thank you, thank you, to all of you who took the time to vote in the Kirsty Larmour Picture of the year 2009 poll. I had votes from all corners of the world, and some of the things you said were so heartwarming – so thank you.

And in response to the massive response I’ve decided to be even more generous with the prizes and to offer three.

So, in joint runner up postion – Image E and F will soon have an 8 x 12 block print of their picture to adorn their wall.

And I’m thrilled to announce that the WINNER IS…… Image J – Congratulations to the 100% adorable Wood Family – I will be paying you a visit with a 12 x 16 inch block print of the gorgeous picture of the three of you very soon.

So now that the pressure is off it’s time to sit back and relax and enjoy a review of 2009 – playing this slideshow makes me feel really quite emotional when I think of all the wonderful people 2009 brought into my life, and those who I was lucky enough to connect with again. People who trusted me to make art for their walls and memories to carry through their lives….. People who embraced my whole live, laugh, love philosophy…. There are some unseen pictures (including of me!) and some outtakes in here too!! (bonus points for whoever spots what my own little cheeky monkey is up to!!)
