It’s been a year where I’ve been able to spread my creative wings and take on more editorial and commercial work – and more charity work to help causes important to me.  I’ve worked with truly incredible vendors who have trusted me to showcase their beautiful work.

It was a year where I’ve marvelled at the incredible importance of what I’m blessed enough to do, with photographs, in holding memories for families who have lost loved ones, seeing babies I photographed go off to school and I’ve felt humbled watching the strength of one of my families who are battling cancer with amazing grace.

I get to capture connections, I get to capture emotion, I get to capture precious moments in time, I get to capture realness…. I’ve shed tears, lost hair, lost sleep, not to mention lost my marbles a few times – but I’ve had so many smiles and so much laughter too – I pour my heart and soul into what I do and I can’t thank you all enough for your incredible support, and for opening up your homes and lives to me…

My kids actually wear uniform to school but in the interests of creativity I decided to ask them what they’d wear if they had their own choice!!

I totally, wholeheartedly approve of their choices – they seem somewhat Kate Middleton inspired, a mix of high street and designer – a bit of GAP, Mothercare, Monsoon and Next with a bit of Stella McCartney and Polo thrown in!!

I’d have loved to have done these outside but man, it’s still so hot here in Abu Dhabi…. so we had to make do with our living room and our Ikea table and stools and chalkboard!! But I am so not complaining!

Saffy LOVES her school and I’m so thrilled about that – I’m hoping this rubs off on her feisty little sister!!

It’s a big year for Saffy too because she enters Year 1 – in the big school, where they get to play in the big playground and do “proper” lessons – not sure what she’s been doing the last 2 years if not proper lessons

If you see me in the supermarket these few days and I’m looking a little down it’s cos I’ve lost my trusty sidekick , my fellow Starbucks girl, my trip to the park playmate, my arts and crafts advisor and my all day long hand holder…. and she’s growing up far. too. fast….

Wow, it’s been a week – I never, ever expected the Face of Kirsty Larmour Photography contest to take off like it did – and I have all of you to thank for that – your support and participation has been amazing – Thank you from the bottom of my heart for all your gorgeous entries, and for getting into the fun spirit of it.

Before I announce the winners I have to thank my fabulous judges - Rowe, Kristen, Kati, Jayme and Chelsea who all stepped up magnificently to help out.

So, without further ado…

First Prize of a styled shoot, with digital images and a mini album goes to

BOYS – Luke, and GIRLS – Julia

And a runner up prize from each category of a mini shoot (worth AED 2000) goes to

BOYS – Ben, and GIRLS – Poppy

And a bonus prize session fee waiver (worth AED800) goes to brother and sister winning team of Oliver and Mia – who not only made it to the final 15, but were also the only brother/sister combo where both were placed by one or more of the judges! Even though they didn’t come first I feel that deserves a prize!

And what’s more, every participant can take 10% off their session fee for sessions held within 2011.

CONGRATULATIONS all of you – all your beautiful children are winners.

Is your child the cutest kid in the U.A.E.?

 I’m looking for one girl, and one boy to model in a styled shoot to become the face of Kirsty Larmour Photography and am super excited to launch the hunt. 

What makes it even more exciting is that the winners will be chosen by YOU!!

 The Prize: A styled photoshoot for your child, with digital negatives and a mini album – value AED7800

 The Rules:

• You MUST be willing to come to me in Abu Dhabi during the month of June to redeem your photo session if you win the contest.
• When you enter please state your child’s name and age. This is open to children aged 6 months to 16 years.
• This isn’t a photo contest so no need for heavy editing, and if you enter a photo taken by a professional photographer please make sure you have their permission.  Black and white photos are allowed.
• You must be a fan of Kirsty Larmour Photography on Facebook to be able to vote
• Enter by emailing your chosen photo to kirstylarmour @ gmail.com. I will then place these photos into two folders on Facebook for the boys and the girls.
• Winners will be chosen by the photo that has the most Facebook “likes”. You will need to rally the support of your friends and family – voting will not begin until next Wednesday, 23^rd March. I will not be choosing the winner personally! (Knowing how cute the kids of Abu Dhabi are I can’t imagine how difficult that would be!!!)
• Comments on the photos will be lovely but it’s numbers of “likes” that count!

I knew this session would be wonderful because my face ached from laughing after hanging out with these two at their maternity session!!

They are in a whooooole different phase now and it’s wonderful to have been involved in seeing the transition to their new family – they are just as full of smiles as ever – and with every reason.

I posted another pic of Mama looking stunning on my Facebook but this last one, to me, is perfect – them, tucked away, as a little unit, savouring every moment of their babymoon.

These next two are much more my typical newborn lifestyle images – except this is the first time I’ve ever photographed a cat!! I think she performed pretty well going in and giving the new rival for attention a kiss!! This family definitely threw me some firsts – my first shoot on a boat, and my first cat!! I totally love this one of Mummy and Daddy gazing so adoringly…
