Project 10 November | Abu Dhabi Lifestyle Photographer

My goodness how can we be a 3rd of the way into this project already??? If you’ve not seen the Project 10 before you can read how we got started here. I usually do the project over a day the first week of the month – this month that fell on the week of the Eid holiday here in UAE. Much of the celebrating happens in peoples homes, but people also use it as an excuse to get out and about – we used it as an opportunity to go up to Dubai and do some things on our Dubai wish list!

The day started off gently with some lounging around…

before we set off on the journey… (yes they are the worlds biggest chapatis from the bakery by our home!)

When we got there things didn’t work out as we hoped – some things we wanted to do we couldn’t, but we did manage to get to Ras Al Khor, a wetland site in the middle of Dubai, to see the flamingos (and to check out how crazy big the Burj Khalifa looks compared to the rest of Dubai!).I worked on a Ramsar site back in Hong Kong so I was really excited to see another big city Ramsar site – I have to say, I was a little disappointed – but the kids loved playing with the binoculars and seeing all the birds:)

And then we headed down towards the creek to explore some galleries and have a rest and a drink

These girls will take any space and turn it into a dancing stage!!!

We rounded the day off with a trip to the Dubai Mall (the worlds biggest mall no less, and believe me it felt like half the world were in there!!) and dinner at the rainforest cafe, before heading to see the fountains, which we couldn’t see through the crowds!! Ah well, something for us to do another time… and here’s proof that even photographer Mummies break out their pop up flash sometimes, and take the cheesy tourist shot!!!

Now head on over to see what Hope has been up to this November,

Kirsty x

Sara T - I can’t get over the flamingos. I want some. Standing in my lawn. Is that like over-sized naan bread? I am such an American. Beautiful girls. I dig the cityscape so, so much.

Nancy - I want to eat your girls up, I love that they seem to be such good friends! What a fun day to document and share with us!

Kate - You have such action packed lives!! But so fun too – and I really love seeing this project and feeling a bit closer to you all :)

efi - so cute !! love the giant bread! have you changed your pp..? i love the first two colors!

Val Spring - I could never get bored of seeing a day in your life. Already looking forward to next month’s post!

Swing Time | Abu Dhabi commercial photographer

Everyone knows I’m a bit of a greenie – I try so hard to be eco-conscious, hard as it is in this part of the world. When I’m looking for clothes for my kids I’m always drawn to things which help my eco conscience – so I often look for more eco-consious vendors to work with and when my work and my passions coincide I’m a very happy girlie. indeed.

Courtney Courtney clothing is just perfectly ME – a brand where all the clothing is made from old, recycled, upcycled fabrics – her clothes are just darling, and work perfectly for on to go kids like mine…

Living in an apartment in town, and having no garden we keep a swing in the boot of our car, for when we find the perfect tree… so I took Indy down to the woods one afternoon and we had fun capturing these of her in her new Courtney Courtney dress…

I loved having this time with her – I’ve missed hanging out with her, just the two of us, since she started at school – her giggles are infectious, and she throws herself into everything she does with passion.

This dress has barely come off for 3 days now – her other dress from Courtney was on for three days before that – you’ll see some pics of that one soon… but until then head on over to her FB page and get yourself on her mailing list – I’m on the lookout for a perfect swirly skirt for each girl!

Hope you’re all enjoying the Eid holidays as much as Indy and I are… Kirsty xx

Kristen - These photos are beautiful and so is she, you must be missing her like crazy! I love the way you dress your girls, they are so lucky to have such a fashion savvy Mama! xx

rowe - these photos are just beautiful… dreamy and whimsical… indy is adorable!

zoombezi - Hi there! This is my first comment here so I just wanted to give a quick shout out and tell you I genuinely enjoy reading your blog posts.Thank you so much!

Kate - Indy, Indy, you are just too cute! And that IS an adorable dress too – just her!!

Kate Pizzo - Beautiful Indy in a beautiful dress. Love this set Kirsty, she’s really working the camera isn’t she?! And the lensbaby, well, are there words??

Fun Photo Projects

I’m always doing little fun photo projects with my kids – some quite and easy, and some which take a little longer – and I love to make them part of the decor around our flat. This one the girls have loved doing and building up over time.

We use my instax camera – which is basically a modern day polaroid which produces instant pictures – kids love getting a picture in their hand within seconds of taking it!! Because we may move sometime we decided to use a large canvas to put the pictures on – stuck on with drawing pins.

Some pictures are wacky, us in moustaches or wigs, (lots of the girls with food on their faces!!) some of the girls striking their model poses, some just of them in pretty frocks before a party – whatever they are they’re fun pictures that make us smile!

It’s set on a huge chair by our front door – it’s our dump it ground – where school bags, handbags, teddies, skipping ropes, colouring books, crayons, lunchboxes and all sorts of junk gets dumped every day – so we pass it lots – and we admire it lots… because after all isn’t that what creating pieces of art is about??? And I know it’s no Van Gough, or Ansel Adams, but it’s art for our family – and that’s what matters after all…..I totally encourage you to go do something similar, create your own piece of family art – no instax camera who cares???? if it’s just pics from your phone printed on your home printer, or a few holiday snaps printed at the local printers it just doesn’t matter – if it celebrates YOU and your family and YOUR fun then do it; create it; celebrate it; and smile at it lots!!!

If you’ve created something similar I’d LOVE to see – post me a link so I can check it out, Kirsty xx

3 sisters | China Family Photography

This is what life with three girls looks like….

Biggest sister was born just a month after Saffy, middle sister a few months after Indy  and they are such giggly gorgeous girls

and littlest sister came along just 3 weeks before we arrived in China this summer – perfect timing!!!

I love how relaxed they all are – they are just one of those families who take the chaos of living in China in their stride….You guys are gorgeous… thank you so much for sharing this precious time with your beautiful new bundle with us, Kirsty xx

Kate - What beautiful girls Kirsty :) but actually the one that makes my heart skip a littl beat is the one of Mummy with baby – so peaceful and gorgeous

Project 10-October | Abu Dhabi Lifestyle Photographer

Wow, is it really already October??? I have so much to blog, so much to edit, so much to do in general… but it also means it’s time for another Project 10 with my fabulous group of fellow photographers from around the world (read about how we got started here)

I did my shooting for the project on Saturday – hubby works Saturdays so we always have a bit of a girlie day but usually along pretty similar lines each week – it starts with a long lie in before breakfast and getting ready for the girls various dancing classes….

After class we often head to the mall to do some errands – sometimes the girls twist my arm to have Starbucks for lunch, or maybe ice cream – this week Starbucks won… and there was a giveaway of Roald Dahl books at our favourite bookshop… Saturdays usually include some afternoon quiet time reading stories together so we headed home with their new books – yes, I persuaded them to get George’s Marvellous Medicine – it was my favourite as a kid!!

Afternoons are often spent making something healthy to go in the girls lunchboxes for the week… this week banana loaf…

And then we tackle homework, if there’s any left to be done, and before we know it the day’s over and Daddy’s home:)

And all too quickly Saturday is over and we’re getting ready for school again on Sunday….. now head on over to see what Jennifer over in sunny Santa Barbara, California has been up to….

Until next month, Kirsty x
