Ramadan has started here in Abu Dhabi (for those reading from abroad Ramadan doesn’t necessarily start on the same day in all countries). This is my 3rd ramadan here and I have been soooo looking forward to it. I’ve got to admit, the first one I found a real drag because we’d just arrived and had so much stuff to sort out and everything took so long, but now I can’t wait for that month where the pace of life slows down, when everyone is more contemplative, and whether you’re muslim or not, there’s a special spirituality about the month – oh and the special Ramadan food of course!!
In celebration of the Holy month I’m going to run a special Ramadan promotion which I’ll announce tomorrow here on the blog… so watch this space….
For now I’ll leave you with one of my favourite images from Ramadan last year – snapped with my point and shoot camera through the car windscreen as we drove to meet friends for Iftar (breaking of the fast) one evening. (I know it’s a shame about the lamp posts and aerials, but I just love the dusty Middle East feel of the image all the same!)
Ramadan Kareem to you all, Kirsty x
Kirsty - A very diligent blog reader has been in touch to ask where the Saturday Style your Shoot feature is – aaaaahhh, I guess I just got too excited about Ramadan… I’ll give it a miss this week and it’ll be back next week, Kirsty x
Deema - on this occasion u’d take pics for Sheikh Zayed Mosque (the new white big one next to Shangrila hotel) 🙂 when i 1st saw the pic u uploaded i thought its that mosque
