What do you buy for the Photographer you love? It doesn’t matter if it’s a birthday, Christmas, Eid or another special occasion we photographers rarely want photography gear for Christmas – we want the lovely extras, the fun things, the special things, the things that make us feel good – especially if we’re already in business, no one wants a gift that’s really going to their work, not to them!! In our family we’re big on being conscious consumers and trying hard to gift things we need and that help somewhere, and not things that create more waste, so here are a few feel good gifts that will just add the extra icing on a photographers cake to make them feel that you really care!
A special mug, just for them – check out these cute ones from Click and Blossom (and fill it up with some special Fairtrade coffee)A cute camera strap to accessorise them perfectly – check out the Sahel
Comfy shoes – we all need to be steady and easy on our feet when we’re chasing toddlers around – I adore my saltwaters for when I want my shoes to stay put, but love my Pons for when I like to be a bit dressier, but might still need to kick my shoes off – and for the desert or beach where I’m mostly barefoot then flip-flops with a conscience from Gandy’s are just perfect
If your photo-love needs some gorgeous photography motivation then you can’t beat a subscription to Click Magazine – it’s beautiful, fresh and full of wonderful inspirational stories
or a digital subscription to “The Long Way Home” – which is full of deep, beautiful stories and meaningful, moving photography.
If the photographer in your life needs a little more learning inspiration then check out the Break Out store at Click & Co – I highly recommend “Photography on the Fly” as being wonderful no matter where you are in your photography journey 😉 (Yeah, yeah, I’m a little biassed, but it’s sold so well so far – it really MUST be good!!) It’s about becoming intuitive with your photography and taking those next steps to capture it all with passion.
If your photography lover needs a little hand holding along the way then they couldn’t find a better place than the Clickin Moms forum – no matter where they’re at in their photo learning there will be someone else who’s been there or who is riding the ride right alongside them – a gift subscription could be just fabulous for them to take those next steps
Sometimes we want to read about photography, but not necessarily to learn more – just to be inspired. My favourite photography book is “a camera, 2 kids and a camel” by Annie Griffiths, but this year I also have war photographer Lindsay Addario’s book on my list, along with “Women of Vision” – a book of the photographs of National Geographic Women photographers.
We all want to look fab and be comfy while we’re photographing and I love the range of t-shirts, from long sleeved through to vest tops that Sevenly has with the kind of quotes that I say to my kids often – they make great reminders to be good people
If your photographer comes alive when taking photos of the kids then why not treat them to something new too – Courtneycourtney’s range of eco-clothing for kids are fabulous, wash amazingly and can match your every possible photo location!!! The are big faves in this household!!
And last but not least, if your photographer beloved needs a little one-on-one help along the way then why not look at booking a mentoring session with me? Click on the “Contact” button to find out more details – face-to-face (or skype-to-screen) sessions start at US$200 – I’ll even share how I take my own tripod selfies with my kids 😉
So it’s Merry Christmas from me, and Happy Holidays wherever you are and whatever happy times you’re celebrating,
See you in 2017, with love, Kirsty xx
Amanda - Such great ideas. And the breakout & a session from you were both amazing experiences for me!! Highly recommended! xo
