In this Moment… week 1

I love having personal photography projects, but I am one of those people who can never commit to do a 365 day photo project – I lose focus and drift off and forget… so when I was chatting about this to my friend Rowe she suggested we do something together and start small, and just try for a month to capture something every single day – from there we could see how it went – no pressure….

We decided to call it “In this Moment” and to take a small moment to find a little something to make us pause, to savour, to remember and maybe to delight in every day for the month of January. We live very different lives, in very different places – she lives in a villa in the middle of some rice paddies in Bali, and I live in a centre of town apartment in a bustling capital city – but as mothers and business owners life can share the same stresses, the same daily routines, the same worries and the same joys no matter where you are… and so, we both set out to capture a month of moments…

The moments aren’t all perfect – the photography definitely isn’t – it’s about a pause, each day, in our busy lives… it’s about being In this Moment….

We let ourselves have a month to let the moments sink in too – to take the daily pressure off to constantly photograph, edit and post – we compiled them and talked about them, and now we’re posting them, one week at a time, throughout the month of February and sharing some small thoughts about each one.

Here I share week 1, from the first to 7th of January – the way that 2014 started out….

……….
