I was recently asked to photograph the ladies celebration of an engagement (as in betrothal to be married). To be trusted to carry out such a duty was a huge honour as many ladies here don’t have their photograph taken, because on a day-t0-day basis, in public, their faces or hair are covered. Needless to say, in my chats and consultations with the bride to be’s mother I managed to alay any concerns she, or any of the guests might have and I was invited to document this wonderful occasion.
Out of respect for those concerns I’m only going to post one picture – this is the mother of the bride, and the bride to be, newly adorned with her amazing enagement ring. Just take a look at their amazingly hennaed hands – just stunning.
This was a totally different type of photo shoot for me in so many ways – as a natural light photographer I usually shy well away from pulling my speedlight out of my bag, except at wedding receptions, and only when I absolutely have to! I am massively flattered that this family loved my photography so much that they trusted me working out of my comfort zone – which of course is a good thing for anyone to do once in a while!
Thank you to you all for making me feel so welcome – I can’t wait to show you your full gallery – there are some amazing photos of all the ladies!
love, Kirsty x

Danah - yay…finally going to get to see the pics 🙂 It was ab honor to have you there!
