It’s hard to believe it’s been 18 months since we left Abu Dhabi behind and jumped across the Arabian Sea to India. It’s hard because Abu Dhabi is in all of our hearts, it’s a place that made us who we are as a family, and definitely made me who I am as an artist and photographer. As artists we sometimes follow our own hearts, and sometimes we work with the vision of others and keep our own unique stamp and way of seeing the world on it. This all applies even when working with our own children.
My daughter was born in this desert land, it’ll always be special and hold a space in our hearts. She wanted one last shoot for herself, before her first ever tutu went into storage and she wanted it in one of her favourite places… and preferably with camels… and so that’s what we set out to do… because artists, and Mamas, and little ballerinas all follow our hearts.
This own’t be my last Abu Dhabi post but for now, thank you Abu Dhabi, you’ve been nothing but beautiful, Kirsty xx
PS I talked a lot about collaborating with your children for photos, taking their ideas and working on them in my “Photography on the Fly” guide, which is available to purchase over here
Kirsten - These are stunning, Kirsty. I love how some are detail-oriented (the hair flip) and some are really expansive. That guy in the tent was probably thinking, what the heck???
