At the end of 2013 a group of photographers I know started talking about starting a project – a postcard once a week of where we were and what was going on in our lives. I knew 2014 was going to be very busy for me, but I also knew this would keep me accountable – to make sure that I savoured some of the smaller moments, and that I carefully curated the larger ones too, to be sure to have a weekly record of this year.
It’s been a year of travels – which unbelievably included meeting two of the girls from this group – the founder of the project Nicola was in Hong Kong when I was there, and has since moved to my former hometown, and Rowe, who I also embarked on another project with earlier last year, a dear long time online friend who we stayed with in Bali.
Since those initial travels my family has headed off to the USA for me to teach at the amazing Click Away conference, and then on a series of further travels that have taken us away from our Abu Dhabi home and on a long adventure. We will return soon, and I am happy to say it will all be documented again as the Wish You Were Here project continues…..
Thank you to all the wonderful women of this group who have held my hand as I faltered, held me up when I needed it and cheered me along as my life went through some of it’s biggest transitions over the course of 2014. I’m happy to say I made it… both travel wise and photographically, and here are 52 weeks of looking back on 2014,
I hope you’ll follow along in 2015, Kirsty xx
