Ginger Unzueta - I love your realness Kirsty, coupled with the optimism. We certainly all face hard days as mamas, as children, as people, but as we look and find the joy, the things to be grateful for within these times, somehow we find the peace we need. What a beautiful example of that this letter is to your girls.
Anna-Liisa - Ours has been a grumpy home this month too with lots of exhausted small and big people trying to get used to all the day to day things we have to cram in! It is the cloudy days and the sunny days that make our world a whole and what make us grow. I am sure that when they grow up and look back on those cloudy days, they would be able to say that your wisdom helped them go through it. …And those pictures are just perfect. You captured a beautiful sisterhood!
Sara T - Kirsty! “Down in the dump, grumpy guts”. I adore this saying and I will repeat it in my house one day, thanks to you. I do love your optimism even in those months you are trying to regain your life’s rhythm. It can be so difficult, but rewarding once the rhythm is reset and peace is restored. I adore the way you write with conviction. I don’t think you are delusional. I think this is the ebb and flow of life. I have my kids on a goal and point system complete with a checklist every morning. Mornings in our house are “golden”.
rowe - how i can relate to every word… how we love them more than life itself but they can make us crazy at times and on one hand we feel like it will never end and on the other we find ourselves dreaming of days where things feel normal again! sometimes it takes little longer than we hope to reach our happy place but when we do, we are so thankful because of the grumpy days! i like to think the grey cloud days are kind of a blessing in disguise! maybe thats just me? rowe x (p.s. love your imperfectly perfect film photos lovely)
Sarah C - I love this. So real, and so the image is so beautiful! We have plenty of times like these. Our four children are all so different and sometimes that is enough for them to get along so well, and then other times they are seriously outshouting each other and I am ready to hide in a corner lol! We also have a growler too so I may have gotten a giggle there. I love you and your sweet girls, and though we have never “met” in person I feel like you are a dear friend. Some day I hope our girls can meet, because I know my little ladies would adore yours!

Mairi Clare - Hi Kirsty

Not quite so original as Indy, but Aaron did a similar topic last year and he was the only one who put anything remotely thoughtful (all the other children bar none put sports star/popstar). He wanted (and still wants) to be an engineer and palaeontologist – the TA apparently had to get the dictionary out to put the second one on the display.

It made me very proud that he knows his own mind and didn’t just follow the crowd. We continue to support his dream and will see what becomes of it in years to come – we have kept the sheet he wrote it on 🙂

Ginger Unzueta - I love this Kirsty ..of course the pictures are beautiful filled with gorgeous light, but your words. Such wonderful reminders to share with our children. We try to share this and root it in ours as well. That every day together is a gift . What we have is lovely and we are blessed and grateful to God but truly what we are most grateful for is the simple things. amy grace - kirsty…first of all, i was making sounds when i looked at these pictures. ohhs and ahhhs like crazy. because oh, the joy you capture. it’s as if you have a magic wand and are able to transform a scene into the way we feel it move. stunning and epic and wonderful pictures. “that day it rained”, and then your honest kind of humor. and the words – i read this twice, the second time to soak up the advice for myself. it was so relevant to me too, at thirty five, after some things that left me feeling shaken. you are such a pleasure to know. and these girls are as beautiful and alive and LUCKY as their mama. xoxo
summer - AHHHH…the joy of the simple things…in love here! And YES dirt washes off…these are the carefree and glorious things childhood memories are made of! Your kids will have more of these kinds of memories than most Kirsty! They are so blessed. And the negatives that happen to all of us are the things that help us to grow and enjoy life ironically…it’s one of the VERY most important lessons to be learned if you want to be happy in my opinion! Just love every word and image!

It makes sense though, they have a mother who shines such a strong light on them, showing them the way and that light is refracted by the prism that is life, in turn showing is the beautiful rainbow of colours that is your girls. <3
